Gabriola Players at Cultivate 2021

Gabriola Players and its members are thrilled to be very actively involved in the theatrical portion of next month’s Cultivate Festival.

The festival will open on July 1 with a theatrical improv workshop led by Tom Radcliffe (who recently played Shakespeare in our online performances of A Divine Comedy). For more information about the workshop, click here. Space is limited, so book your slot soon.

This will be followed by the first of two performances by Gabriola Players of Life on Mars by Elliot Hayes.

This is a second chance for people who missed out on seeing the play (directed by Donna Deacon and featuring Scott Rivers and Joe DiCara) when performances were cancelled by the pandemic last year halfway through our one-act play festival.  There will be two shows: noon on July 1 and 6pm on July 2.

Tom Radcliffe will be back at the festival, appearing with Ray Appel (star of Ali Baba in 2019 and one of the creative geniuses behind Gabriola Squares) as the artist Mark Rothko and his long suffering assistant in the Over the Moon Productions staging of Red, written by John Logan and directed by Frank Moher. There will be two shows: 6pm on July 1 and noon on July 2.

In accordance with pandemic protocols, seating is limited for these two shows and Wilf Carter featuring Nathan Tinkham, the third play which will be performed. Tickets have just gone on sale on the Cultivate website. Don’t miss out.

Live theatre will be back on Gabriola soon!
