Improv spaces still available!

There are still some spots available for Tom Radcliffe’s theatrical improv workshop, offered by Gabriola Players as part of Cultivate 2021.

Tom promises a fun two hours and we can confirm this will be the case. Everyone who took the first improv workshop he offered on Gabriola a year and a half ago wanted more.

Two of the participants were new to any sort of theatrical performing.

Linda Hellenius (pictured above with Tom and Scott Rivers) works tirelessly behind the scenes with Gabriola Players. Even though she says absolutely nothing could ever lure her on stage, she decided to take the workshop. This is what she has to say about it:

“As a non-actor, I would happily recommend taking Tom Radcliffe’s improv workshop.

“You don’t have to be funny, just willing to have fun. There’s no audience, so you don’t have to feel shy or uncomfortable, no lines to memorize and nothing you say is ‘wrong’.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the last improv workshop Tom gave, and found him a thoughtful, knowledgeable teacher. If you are thinking about it, take the class! You won’t be sorry.”

Scott Rivers, new to Gabriola in 2019, heard about Tom’s last offering and decided to give it a go. Here’s what he has to say:

“I took Tom Radcliffe’s Improv Workshop 18 months ago when I’d first moved to Gabriola and it was an exciting, fun experience. He’s a great inclusive instructor who engaged us all and put us at ease. I’d never acted before – not even high school – but the experience led me to join Gabriola Players and win a leading role at my first audition! Since then I’ve acted in three productions, written two plays and directed. Fantastic!

 “I highly recommend Tom’s workshop!”

More fun than a barrel of monkeys? Past participants would definitely say so.

Don’t miss out! Book a spot while places are still available.

Introduction to Theatrical Improv will be offered on the Lawn Stage at the Commons on Thursday, July 1 at 10am. Cost for the workshop is $20 and can be booked on the Cultivate website.
