Gabriola Players was saddened this week to learn of the sudden death of Peter Jones, who was a very active member for a number of years.
A great bardolator, Peter took part in three of our alfresco Shakespeare performances.
First as Malvolio in Twelfth Night.
Next as Jaques in As You Like It.
Then as Holofernes in Love’s Labour’s Lost.
And he wore the same jacket for all three roles!
He also appeared in What Glorious Times They Had, playing Tobias Norris, the Manitoba premier who first gave the vote to Canadian women.
Peter was a great Monty Python fan and relished his panto turn as Torquemada in The Return of Robin Hood after director Miranda Holmes decided to insert the Spanish Inquisition into the script for no reason other than no one would expect it.
Miranda, on behalf of Gabriola Players, would like to offer the group’s deepest condolences to Margaret and their family on the loss of this smart, funny, delightful man.
