Readers Theatre

In 2011 Gabriola Players launched their Readers Theatre specifically to offer staged readings of scripts that lend themselves to this type of production. We opened with Dear Jennifer, a one-act play converted from a novella written by Rebecca Redshaw which was very well received.

Since then there have been Readers Theatre performances of Enchanted April, Under Milk Wood, Waiting for the Parade, On Golden Pond, The Vagina Monologues, Twelve Angry Men and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Readers Theatre offers an intermediate introduction to the stage for new actors who are tempted by the spotlight. The dedication required for learning lines, and the fear of forgetting them, can be intimidating, so Readers Theatre provides an ideal opportunity for actors to immerse themselves in a script with only a short-term commitment and a more relaxed approach. You will still be required to audition, and will be working with a Director and a like-minded cast who are all keen to share a gratifying experience and, quite simply, have fun.
