The First Draft Club

The play writing workshop we held in September, led by playwright/director Frank Moher, was a great success.

So much so that five of the participants, all of whom have some sort of work in progress, decided to carry on with regular fortnightly meetings of the “First Draft Club”. We’ll get together, read and listen to one another’s work, provide encouragement and help, where we can, with stumbling blocks.

The first meeting is on Wednesday, October 6 at the Arts and Heritage Centre from 7pm to 9pm. After that, the meetings will be every other Thursday until the end of the year, by which time we’re all hoping we’ll have a one-act play ready to submit for consideration for production at next spring’s one-act play festival.

There is room for three more. So, if you’re working on an idea which you might like to share with a supportive group of writers, please send an email straight away to gabriolaplayers@gmail.com.

Anyone – whether you’ve written a play before or are having your first go – is welcome to join in.

The group will be self-supporting, dividing the cost of the hall rental equally amongst participants. If we get three more, it will only be $5 per meeting. What a bargain for all that love and support!
