What does the Set Designer do?

The Set Designer collaborates with the Director, but is responsible to the Producer.

 

Early in the Process:

1.     Collaborate with Director on establishing designs for sets.

2.     Set Designers collaborate together on a colour palette.

3.     The Set Designers creates a scale model and/or scale drawing to communicate the look of the set.

4.     Collaborate with the Head Carpenter and Properties Co-ordinator in the construction of the sets.

 

During Rehearsals:

1.     Attend rehearsals as needed.

2.     Attend tech and dress rehearsal to finalize set requirements.

 

After the Run:

Supervise the return and storage of accessories and set construction.
