There were standing ovations for this weekend’s performances of D. L. Coburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Gin Game. And it was hardly surprising. Mark Smith and Lesley Hazeldine (pictured below presenting director Anne Drozd with a bouquet) shone in the roles of Weller Martin and Fonsia Dorsey. This was theatre at its best.
A big thank you to Mark and Lesley for their stirring performances, to Anne for undertaking this challenging play so successfully for her directorial debut with Gabriola Players, and to all the crew who helped make this such a wonderful experience.
