Acting workshop with Kayte Summers

Posted by

Gabriola Players is very pleased to be offering a three-part Acting Workshop in April with the multi-talented Kayte Summers.

Session 1: Play

The first hour will focus on exercises to help actors inhabit and be aware of their own bodies. Each participant will be asked to bring with them a character they’ve invented (eg “Bill” is in his mid-fifties and works in IT. His wife left him to join the circus). The second hour will focus on getting to know this character. At the end of the session participants will be paired off and assigned a scene with which to familiarise themselves. No memorisation is required.

Session 2: What do I want?

Using the assigned scenes, the focus will be on developing the characters, their wants and needs, and how to break down the changes in these as the scene progresses.

Session 3: What’s going on?

With direction from Kayte, participants will take turns to play their scenes, looking at both physical and emotional ways of driving forward the needs of individual characters.

Space is limited to 12 participants, so don’t delay in registering by sending an email to gabriolaplayers@gmail.com with the subject “Acting Workshop”.

The fee is $25 for members of Gabriola Players or $45 for non-members.

Please note that, for the safety of all, participants will be required to wear masks.
